WHITEHOUSE COMMUNITY COUNCIL

There will be a public forum before the start of the meeting proper.  A maximum of 30 minutes is allocated for members of the public to speak on any community matter.  Questions to Council should be submitted to the Clerk by 12 noon on the day of the meeting.

AGENDA

  1. WELCOME – The Chair to welcome all to the meeting and introduce Councillors present.
  2. APOLOGIES FOR ABSENCE – To accept apologies for absence, submitted to the Clerk prior to the start of the meeting.
  3. DECLARATIONS OF INTERESTS – Councillors to declare any personal, prejudicial or pecuniary interest they may have in respect of any items on the agenda.
  4. MINUTES – To approve, and the Chair to sign as a correct record, the minutes of an Ordinary meeting of the Council, held on 19 September 2024. 2024-09-19_DRAFT MINUTES
  5. COMMUNITY LARDER AT THE HIVE – The Council to consider supporting the provision of a Community Larder at The Hive.   6. YMCA YOUTH CLUBS – The Council to consider establishing Youth Clubs at The Hive, that may secure one year funding from the YMCA.  Representatives from the YMCA will be attending the meeting to provide more details on how YMCA youth club sessions could benefit our young residents. 2024-10-24_ITEM06_YMCA-MK YOUTH WORK PACKAGES 2
  7. NEW COMMUNITY FACILITIES – Paul Van Geete (Milton Keynes City Council) has been invited to the meeting to provide update reports on the following facilities:
  1. Allotment Site – To receive a report from Milton Keynes City Council on the progress of the allotment site.
  1. Temporary Shop – To receive a progress report on the opening of the temporary shop on Dorset Way.

  2. THE HIVE
    • The Council to consider a request to allow a hire for a children’s movie / sleep-over at The Hive, outside of the agreed open and closing times.
    • That if the Council agrees to the request, to consider extending this option for other residents and to discuss a policy surrounding such requests.
  1. EVENTS 2024/2025 – Members of the Event Working Groups to provide updates on events for 2024/2025.
  • Diwali Celebration – Saturday 26 October 2024
  • Christmas Fayre – Sunday 15 December 2024
  • Chinese New Year – February 2024
  • 11. AUTHORISATION OF PAYMENTS – To authorise payments made since the last meeting and payment to be made. (Report to Follow)
  • 12. PLANNING APPLICATIONS – At the time of publication of the agenda, there were no planning applications to consider.  The item has remained on the agenda to consider any applications have been received between the time of agenda publication and the meeting.
  1. EXCLUSION OF PRESS AND PUBLIC – In accordance with the Public Bodies (Admission to Members) Act 1960, the Council to resolve to exclude the press and public for Agenda Item 14 (Staffing Matters) due to the confidential nature of the item to be transacted, in that the item contains information pertaining to an individual and contains details of staff contracts.
  2. STAFFING MATTERS
    • Appointment of Council & Facilities Support Officer – The Council to agree the appointment and contract for the new Council & Facilities Support Officer (based on the NALC / NJC Model Staff Contract).
    • Temporary Staff – The Council to agree to continue with temporary staff until the new Council & Facilities Support Officer commences employment on 18 November 2024.
